3 Games, 2 Trips and 2 Years Later...

Just 3 games into the new season and boy oh boy were there some major surprises cropping up front, back and center!! Who could've predicted that Burnley were able beat United and Everton back to back! I was gutted at the result as we were expected to beat them quite comfortably. Lucky for Old Man Yong, he didn't wake up to watch the match cos 1) we lost... obviously 2) it wasn't shown on Astro. So Yong, sometimes u just gotta be happy that you can't stay up as late anymore :P.


How far will Burnley go?

Well, in the next match we did beat Wigan quite easily 5-0 with Rooney getting his 100th and 101st United goals and MO7 finally opening his account for the Red Devils. Watching the match, I could've sworn Old Man Fergie put rockets up the players asses cos they were running non stop up and down the pitch, Berbatov included!!

The bigger surprise is Tottenham having more points in 3 games this season than in 10 games last season! And yes, they currently top the table! One wonders how Harry Redknapp manage to turn a bunch of lads who were the laughing stock of last season with keeper Gomes the head clown into serious title contenders by the looks of it this season. I am sure however Shebby Singh and Adam C are enjoying this moment.


Goal number 100... Keep em comin'...

At the opposite end of the spectrum is Liverpool. Ahhh Liverpool, as much as I want to be diplomatic bout it, I can't help but smile when they drop points during the season. Maybe its cos of the great United-Liverpool rivalry. Last season, out of 38 matches they only lost 2 games. This season, they have already loss 2 in 3 games! Just hours ago Aston Villa manage to punch in their first win of the season. No doubt Yong will be finding people to gloat at in his work place :P. Zhou, the signs are pretty clear eh?


Ya win some, Ya lose some...

But there are spoil sports that prefer to stick to the form book. I'm talking bout Chelsea and Arsenal. Looks like Ancelotti will be staying a bit longer than poor Scolari. And when I saw Gallas score again, the situation between Yong and Philip just popped into my mind. A silent 'lol' in my head if u will... :D.

Eto'o can't do this...

Further good news is that the Italian league just kicked off last weekend as well and the Spanish league will follow suit this weekend. Really looking forward to see how Zlatan performs and judging by the cup match yesterday, Eto'o won't be missed!

Ah right, I guess I'll stop with the football. On to other things, Operation Char Kueay Teow 3 (yes 3 .. not 2, not 1, 3!!!) is good to go barring a series of unfortunate events. As the saying goes, the best things come in 3's. And like Lord of The Rings, hopefully this time will be the best :). Going along with that, there will be a few changes from the last 2 trips we made.


I have dreams bout this...

Firstly, there will be new faces tagging along, some who missed the past 2 due to whatever reason. And due to that there will be 2 cars going up this time. Secondly would be a change in Hotels, after 2 stays in Gurney, this time we are staying in the heart of Food County @ McAllister Road. Thirdly, instead of the usual 4-5 days in Penang, this time round we will be there only for the long weekend. Yes Phang, August 31st falls on a MONDAY, that's when we celebrate our independence (though not entirely it has to be said) but on 30th August, we go to war!! Man Utd vs Arsenal will battle it out and we will be watching it in Penang!! Eh, any Penang kia reading this, mana pod MU ah??

And so far the current situation is this: the Malacca convoy will only leave on Saturday morning and will be meeting the KL convoy in Tapah a.k.a. Jambu Girl for Yong :P (there goes the plan to go Quarttro). And I assume that Zhou's car will be playing House and Trance music while Yong's will go for the more girly/whimpy/OMFG u call that music??? songs... I call dibs on zhous car when we reach Tapah k!!

Finally, it has been 2 years and a couple of days to the day that we've been an item. Through ups and downs (Thankfully more of the former), we managed to come this far. And I couldn't be any luckier to have you by my side. Love you baby!

Sometimes Routine Is Good...

It is when the routine you're sticking too involves being glued to the tv hours at a time watching football! Ah, 1st week of football has just came and gone. The grass couldn't have been greener, the crowd couldn't have been noisier and the results couldn't have been more astonishing. One thing I can conclude for week 1: bookies have been making loads of money! Who would've bet against Villa losing at home to Wigan, or Arsenal whooping Everton away 6-1 or the supposedly 2 David vs Goliath matches ending with the odd goal? Though there were a few keeping an eye on Spurs beating Liverpool. I remember ALL the pundits on Football Forecast on ESPN said Spurs were gonna win 2-1. First time they were right!


First of many I hope...

Well, as for United, I felt that they could've scored a lot more given the opposition, and the fact that Owen missed a sitter in front of goal. But a win's a win and bring on Burnley next! And I'm doubly happy that Rooney has open his account on the 1st day of the league. Which brings me to my fantasy teams... Aih, dunno what to say, looks like my plan of using different people for different teams kinda failed.. the ones like can win money wan didn't while the likes of Yahoo! and the one with the guys in it I did fairly well.

Oh, sorry la Yong, gave you wrong info on Arsenal players. But u gotta admit, who could've seen that coming?? Ah well, week 2 is coming soon.


Somehow I felt cheated that Megan Fox didn't show...

And I am surprised that none of the guys have yet to blog bout the event we went last Friday: FHMs 100 Most Wanted Women Party @ The Loft. I have to say this event pwns the Heineken Green Room one 10 times man. We payed nothing, got free parking summore (not something u get when u go clubbing) and came away with loads of good stuff! Oh, and even got 2 free beers! Heineken event 1 pun tarak.. wtf... And btw, Carlsberg Gold totally kicks ass!


Daryl only had 1, therefore I had 3 :D...

The event itself was pretty much ok la, Yong was right when he said there were more hot chicks in the crowd than on the stage where supposedly the most wanted women in the country were. Don't expect foreign celebrities like Megan Fox to come here now do you? As for entertainment, ah, it was substandard. As you know I'm not one for the RnB/ Hip Hop genre so I won't say much more. And as usual, Malaysian crowd really buzz kill, MCs tried to interact with the crowd but most of the time, silent nia.. I think Serena C and Phat Fabes oso quite stumped at times. Oh, Amber Chia was there, and she still can't speak Engeris properly... lol.. you'd think for someone who has her own tv crew (!!) following her all over that she'd would've brushed up on it. And oh, she ain't that hot in real life :P.


FHM's 'care package' is so much better thn the ones from the Salvation Army...

They even gave a goodie bag which I doubt a care package for those who were lucky enough to go home with someone else ;). Why I say that? Lets see in the goodie bag we got : 2 Dentine Gums packs (fresh breath to pick up chicks), 2 coasters with pick up lines (to better enhance ur chances to pick up a girl, if 1st time fail got back up), 1 contraceptive if you DO get lucky. And if that goes well, they even have stuff for the morning after : 1 FHM t-shirt (for those who's shirt got lost/puked on/ripped apart :P), 1 bottle of Sunsilk Shampoo ( coincidentally the same one I use!), 1 bottle of Lux shower cream ( I didn't get that), 1 bottle of hair wax/gel by UberMen, 1 sample bottle of perfume, and 1 sample pack of some anti aging thing (I think its just for covering up those hang overed eyes). See, is this a care package or what?


For those who no balls are too scared to talk to girls...

Looks like FHM really know their target audience and hoped that at least some of us put it to good use as a package eh? But sadly for us, well for the 2 non taken ones anyway, they didn't get to bring anyone back :(. I'm sure they have their reasons la. Oh and during that entire outing, confirm me as navigator and human GPS is FTW!!!

Well, as far as other routines go, my sleeping pattern is out the window... slept at 5pm yesterday woke up at 7pm, slept again at 12am and woke up at 2am, didn't sleep from then till 5pm today until 8pm. That meant my eating pattern oso screwed.. oh FML...

It's The Season To Be Jolly...

I wanted to do this post only tomorrow, but seeing that most of you have already done it, and I will be busy tomorrow, I decided not to put it off any longer... Yes, the time as come at last, after 3 agonizing months of 'dunno what to do on a weekend night', the brand new season of the English Premier League is about to begin!! Sure there was the Man Utd tour which helped filled in the gaps but you can't deny that life is finally worth living again now that the best season of the year is back!! So girls, either u find a team to support of leave your boyfriends alone for the next 8-9 months on weekend nights :P!!


4 times in a row?? hmmm...

Since the rest of the major European leagues (by that I mean Spanish and Italian) have yet to commence, the biggest talking point has to be 'How will United do without CR7?' and for Liverpool fans 'Will Stevie G's burden be doubled now that Xabi has gone?'. And of course for any Citeh supporter, 'Will this season of 11 6 strikers be enough to get into the top 4?'


Yes, in THAT order!!

And we United fans will want to see if Berba will finally prove that he's worth 31 million pounds and if Micheal Owen, the guy that we spend most of the 90's hating will turn up to be another one of Fergie's inspired signings. I would also want to see if there will be any surprising youngsters this season ala Macheda vs Aston Villa. Boy, I can still reply that moment in my head with the commentator screaming 'Macheddaaaaa!!!!'. Most of all, I really hope that Wayne will be able to fill in Ronaldo's boots and score his 25 goals that he has promised. Fingers crossed.


Football will be nothing without the fans

Well, there will be the usual questions as to who will finish top, top 4, relegated, almost relegated, etc. Also the new signings will always be interesting to watch. Although this season is kinda boring cos most of the new recuits have actually played in the EPL last season for another team. And will there be another Hull of last season (beginning geng but end suck) or Stoke (beginning sucked but end geng) or a Newcastle (sucked all the way:P)

And of course for the very hardcore of us football fans, there is a small score to settle in the form of fantasy football! I for one did quite ok last year for Yahoo!'s fantasy football but sucked quite much in the one Yong made. And I can see that Yong, Jo and Mr. Yeah have already dengan bangganyerr put up their teams for the 1st week assuming thats the only fantasy they join. I on the other hand, will take things up a notch... or two... instead of 1 or 2, I decided to join 4.. yes 4 fantasy football leagues!! The other 2 are from Stadium Astro (chance to win 50,000 bucks with only less thn 20,000 ppl so far) and ESPNStar's FC Manager.

I figured why not just join and give it a shot? Who knows, with a little bit of luck I oso can win big wat. Well, only thing is this season round, there will be no more free points from Ronaldo so gotta pick wisely. My other 2 teams are more or less the same. And with a round of international fixtures just passed, who knows if got players injured.

Whatever it is, this weekend will be the start of a great season ending with the World Cup in the summer. I for one can't wait for football madness season to start. But I think I might be beaten to it:

I was up all night studying for my test and partially YouTube-ing Whose Line Is It Anyway till about 5am. I thought of getting a power nap of at least 1 hour before I get ready to go for class. But my mind for some reason was not tired. So I continued reading and surfing till it was time to catch the hell ride/probably H1N1 infested/sardin pack/LRT to class at 7+. People like PYH, Yong and my girlfriend would probably know where I stand on religion, for those who don't than well, its another story for another day. However, I just watched another one of George Carlin's clips on YouTube and I have to say, I really admire him. Dad said my sis told him bout George's clip bout the 'Modern Man' but right from the time I heard his name, I knew that he had much much better stuff in his locker. Which brings me to a documentary I just watched called Religulous by Bill Maher. Insightful to say the least. See how he stumps rabbis, priest and ulamas in their wake. I think everyone should watch this once before preaching bout faith. *Note: I'm not condemning any of you friends who believe in god and is religious k :)*

Well, after seeing these 2 really great and inspiring people, the next time there is a door to door person trying to sell or promo their religion, instead of just ignoring them like my mom usually does, I think I'll answer them and have a really nice debate, mind fuck them eh? >:)

Not Your Average Weekend...

Last weekend proved to be one of those weekends where 'things aren't exactly what they seem to be' weekend...for me at least. See, first off, I read on the news that there was suppose to be some demonstration in town on Saturday. What I didn't know was that they were about to close out nearly half of KL! There were road blocks everywhere from what I read and traffic was a practical standstill for hours. Even my mid term test oso had to be pushed back half an hour cos the lecturer was stuck in the jam.

The government must be so damn free to close down half of KL la, checking everyones cars to see if they are transporting anything dangerous. Heck, it ain't that easy to get ur hands on armed weapons and c4 ya know.. unless of cos u ARE the government! And to quote an article by Stocktube.blogspot.com : 'The capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, was actually shut-down on Friday itself. I planned to go back early on Friday after a gathering but somehow couldn’t make it and spend some good hours wasting expensive fuels, thanks to the super-efficient police force in setting up road-blocks as if a batallion Genghis Khan’s army was invading. If only the police force would do the same to catch snatch thieves, murderers or at least the mat rempits. Thing is, after watching all this videos, I realize the crowd only gets rowdy WHEN the cops come and act like they own the place.

And the thing is, there was suppose to be a rally FOR ISA on that same day. Wonder how many people actually did show up... Sure they have their reasons for supporting this draconian act, but hey, its like wearing a Liverpool jersey at a Man Utd vs Malaysia game ya know... I'm just surprised those fellas weren't bashed up! Ok ok , I shall try to stop here cos I don't wanna be dragged and put into some hole where the sun don't shine.


For once, I wasn't a happy Heineken drinker...

Anyways, I was suppose to go to Zouk that night for the Heineken Green Room thing with Yong, Don and my girlfriend. Seeing that the traffic was still like shit at 7pm, I seriously thought of just foregoing this event. But then in the end, we ended up going la. Was my first time at Zouk and my first event like this. I thought being on the guest list and it being a Heineken event, I assumed there would be a free flow of beer. But it turned out we didn't get shit! Not even a complementary entrance booze! Boy did I feel ripped off even though we didn't pay a cent to enter :P. And the place was so small... -.-''. That was the main reason I was there so I immediately wanted to go home :(. But Yong was there on a different motive: to see Verbal. Turns out he was bitterly disappointed. Although the resident DJs and Britsh act Filthy Dukes were pretty good.

Well, my girlfriend and I went to visit her mom today at the hospital (don't worry, everything's alright) and the last time I was at this hospital was about a year or so back when she was there. And they only thing they had was a Starbucks. And now, they have evolved to having Starbucks, 1901 Hot dogs and Baskin Robbins!! I was lucky enough to be there on the 31st to enjoy the discount.. LOVE the Strawberry Cheesecake flavour!! And yes, all this at a hospital. Pantai Hospital in Bukit Pantai near Bangsar actually. If somehow unluckily (touch wood) I have to be warded, I wanna come here so I can enjoy my Iced Caramel Macchiato, Chicago Beef and Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream while being bedridden!

This Ain't Living...

I for one detest organic food. I put people who eat organic food and vegetarians into one category : the pussy no taste for food category. Vegetarians for one are missing out on the best part of the food group : meat. Most chefs including Mr. Ramsay himself would kick a vegetarian out of their restaurant! As organic food? You are paying more for food that is using less product. Meaning to say its only called 'organic' cos they don't use all those pesticides and fertilizers. So why are we suppose to pay more for less? Nonsense ain't it! But not that it ain't good for u la..

So today for lunch, me , my gf and her friend went to this place in Bangsar Village 2 which sells organic food. I wasn't too keen on it at first but after the friend said his aunt says its nice, I figured might as well give it a go hoping to have my thoughts on organic food changed. Now I wanna say I'm not putting my friend down for bringing me to this place cos well, he also has never tried before. Menu was pretty vast, had local nasi lemak rendang to tomyam to fish and stuff. But apparently with organic food comes the concept of healthy living so there was no soft drinks, ice lemon tea pun tak da!

So I decided to call the menu with the least organic produce la, and at 50% organic ingredients (I kid u not, they put a scale on the menu) I had the Salmon Deluxe with Brown Rice and a Hawaiian Delight drink.. Supposed to be a mix of pineapple, apple and soy yogurt. And when my meal came I had the shock of my life!! The salmon was sooo small. It was barely bigger than the size of my palm!! Palm excluding the fingers!!! OMFG!! WTF is so DELUXE bout it ?? Size of its ego ah? Seems like this is organic salmon, cos its been fed with organic feed. Hmmm, a conclusion I can straight away draw was if you want your stuff to be small, take organic food. I can understand if they want the portion to be small, healthy and maybe chic, but fuck me, this was shit! Couldn't throw it back at the waitress cos well, still ain't that rich to throw away food :P. And does healthy living means lack of salt? Cos the fish was almost tasteless! I CAN cook better! The rice and vege was OK la at most. Price was 13.00+!


Gardenia wholemeal bread + 1 drop of pineapple essence = my weird ass drink

My drink was another story all together, wait, almost the same la. I'm sure most of you have tried Gardenia Wholemeal Bread before right? Neh, the one with the green colour wrapping with a lot of grains wan. Ok, imagine you take a few slices of that, blend it till its really fine and not grainy, and add a hint, yes a bloody hint, like 1 drop of pineapple essence into it and serve. My first reaction? Liquidized wholemeal bread!! And it cost me RM9.90. For the same price or maybe 1 or 2 bucks more, I can have a to die for peanut butter banana smoothie at Paddingtons House Of Pancakes! My/her friend ordered some hot chocolate that ended up tasting more like Milo and cost RM8.90. So total my meal came up to bout rm25 after tax. Shit, I eat Italiannies set lunch oso more worth it!


This is so FAIL!! But can't deny it taste delicious though!

So after that experience, I told them I might just come back only if got people belanja me, cos well, maybe the other stuff on the menu taste better? But according to the other 2, they wouldn't even if they had a free meal! So as a conclusion? 1) Organic food kinda sucks ass for the price 2) If this is the way to healthy living, they can just shove it up their ass! I'd rather be munching on some Biskut Ayam that is made from pork any day! My gf said food is supposed to be enjoyed, not suffered.. how true..

George Best Must've Something To Do With This...

After so long making noise and grumbling about not being able to go for the Manchester United match, I think my message must've reached the football gods up in footie heaven. Cos I couldn't believe it when both Yong and my baby told me that they we're gonna play Malaysia again on Monday! Yong said I must have really good karma for this to me actually happening. Of course this wouldn't have been possible if the tragic bombings in Jakarta didn't happen. Talk about taking advantage of tragedy right? So frantically, I went online to all the associated webpages to look for any ticket info but unfortunately none was to be found.


Not even a mid term test the next day was gonna stop me this time...

Early on Sunday morning, first thing I did was turn to the sports section not for the match review but for info on the rematch. And lucky me I found out that they were selling tickets on Sunday at all Ticketpro outlets. Sadly, those outlets were only in KL, JB and Penang. Apparently Melaka not big enough place for them to put up a booth. -.-''. Coincidentally, my mom was going to the bus station at 10am to pick up my sis's friend so obviously I took this chance to go back early. And lucky me ( 2nd time I be using this, wonder how many more) manage to get a 1030 bus back! Oh, tickets didn't go on sale until 12pm, so by the time I reached KL, it was only 1/2 hours since they started to sell.


Its my 1st time and her 2nd...

Half of me was expecting loads of people to go and grab the tickets cos I thought a lot of people might've missed the match or wanna watch the greatest team play again. The other half was not expecting that many people to turn up cos well, 24 hour notice is a bit too soon it has to be said. So when I reached the ticket counter in Sg Wang (yes, sg wang...), I was kinda surprised that there wasn't any queue, in fact, the shop was like totally empty. So easily I manage to get my hands on the tickets for the second time. This time however, Yong didn't wanna go cos he said he's scared bout the traffic and even watching United play again ain't gonna change his opinion.


Can see the vast difference in class even from the type of warm ups they did.

So come match day, I not expecting the massive number of people that turned out on Saturday but still expected a decent number. When we reached the stadium at around 6.30, I was surprised that less than half the stadium was filled! I thought to myself it was still early and that most people where still coming off work. But in the end, only about 58,000 people turned up, thats more than Anfield so I can't say much :P. We sat on the opposite side of the grandstand facing the subs bench (which coincidentally was where most of the crowd was). Saying that I was so excited is merely tipping the iceberg. I could only imagine what it was like when the stadium was packed to capacity.


Dumb Fuck who wore the Arse-anal jersey got what he deserved!

We were quite early for the match but we weren't bored to our seats as it turned out our Malaysian culture had their very own pre-match antics. Apparently, some people thought it would be cool or funny (either that or they are just plain stupid) to wear a club jersey other than Manchester United to a ManUtd match (national jerseys of any nation are acceptable). Some jokers/sohais dared to come in Liverpool, Chelsea, Aresenal and R. Madrid jerseys! But obviously they weren't spared! Once a United fan spotted any of them they would start pointing and jeering, and in true Malaysian culture, when that starts, the whole grandstand stood up and jeered together! There even came to a point when they started to yell 'BUKA! BUKA!' to them. There was this one time, an Ares-anal supporter walked down the aisle beside me, I didn't want to instigate anything so I just kept quite but the guy beside me just shouted 2 words : ' OI, ARSENAL!' and that was it!! Chorus of chants broke out! The guy can still smile like a dumb fool and walk down the stands before finally getting boo-ed out of there while flashing his ticket. So what? Obviously NO ONE was gonna give him a place to sit!

So when it was time for the teams to come out the crowd went wild of course, and of course more for the United team. But we did give a great reception to the local lads when they came out and a big cheer for that Amri Yahya guy. I suppose the fans responded well to what the national coach had to say bout us not giving the national team enough support. Well, there was a 1 minutes silence before the match as a respect for the events in Indo which if it weren't for them, I'd still be pissed :P. And as I expected, we are an uncivilized bunch, there were still the odd shouts and horn blowing during that 1 minute. Heck, was it too much to ask to keep your pie hole shut for just 1 min? After that the big kick off got under way!! There was the odd kompang group seated behind the goal that gave the match an added dimention. Sadly though, the only United song anyone knew was the Glory Glory one...


It really happened! I still can't believe my luck...

I still couldn't believe that I was watching my favorite team play right in front of my eyes in my own backyard at that moment. Even though this was just a friendly and its only their second match of the new season, I could already see the usual determination and hunger from each player as they chased down the ball. And after 11 mins, young Kiko Macheda found the back of the net due to some poor and often seen through out the match possession. MO7 made it 2 goals in as many games a minute later and boy oh boy did the crowd go bonkers!! Chants of OWEN! OWEN! can be heard by the supporters. Something I'm sure will be heard over and over again the coming season. Just this time it'll be United and NOT Liverpool who will do that! We continued to play well but evidently, the humidity was taking its toll on the players and it was clear to see. But some how it was the Malaysian team that was substituting people like nobody's business with a sub almost everytime the ball went out!


Owen~~!!!!! Something both the Red Devils and Liverpool fans gotta get used to...

Half time duly arrived and this time round there was no half time performance unlike the 1st match. The second half began pretty much the way the 1st half ended with United having most of the possession. But the national team did have several good chances on the attack but sadly, their greediness and lack of awareness took over and chance after chance was wasted. Typical, got great opportunity to pass first time which would've give Malaysia a better chance at goal, but no, the player decided it was better for him to go by himself, and of course, he was promptly taken care of by the United defense. And surprisingly, I found myself cheering every time the Malaysian team went forward and cursing in disgust when they missed the chance. See, who says we do not support our own country? 1 body check by Rooney and he was out cold.. How la wanna play in EPL?

Of course the player I really wanted to see was Wayne Rooney, never had a favorite United player until he came along and scored a hattrick on his debut. So when he finally did make a subs appearance, everyone including me went wild with chants of 'ROONEY! ROONEY!' echoing around the stadium. I really admired him during the warm up, when everyone else was busy stretching or passing to the teammates, he was on his own with the other trainer shooting long balls. And when it was time to go off before the match started, he was the last United player to leave the pitch... talk bout dedication...

Well, the match ended at around 1045 with the final score of 2-0. A much better performance from United and invaluable experience for the young Malaysian team. Lets just hope they put it into good use for the upcoming tournaments. As for me, my boyhood dream of watching United play live has been fulfilled abit half way cos it was a friendly and its in Malaysia. Like I said, a higher being must really like me (we'll save the conversation of GOD and religion some other time k). Next up, me going to Old Trafford and watching them at home! Who's with me!!!???

Shit Happens... FML..

I was overjoyed when Manchester United announced earlier in the year that they will be coming here for pre season warm up. I have posted previously how massively I was psyched and how I would be going no matter what and that nothing will keep me away. But life, as it turns out, always finds a way to fuck you up in the ass especially when you are at your happiest of moments.


Looks like I won't be going after all... FUCK!

See, as it turns out, my cousin is getting married... THIS Saturday. Which is ALSO the day where United is suppose to play here. Heck, even with the H1N1 shit going on, they still wanna come. And yet, due to this wedding, I won't be able to. I tried to put my point across to my dad, but him being him, shot me down in an instance with the saying : family is more important, plus, its just a friendly. And they question me for not talking to them more. Make no mistake, my dad KNOWS how BIG a Man Utd supporter his son is, but shit just has to happen. And who knows when will they ever come back here again? Asia ain't that small ya know...

Heck when I first found out bout this, I set it on my status on Facebook and immediatly got alot of ppl telling me to just ditch the wedding. But, the way I see it, as Chinese as my not so Chinese family is, when it comes to your eldest uncle's only son's wedding, there is no compromise. Then again, I can't really blame him for getting married on this date, weddings aren't planned a month ahead, they are planned 6 months ahead. Also, can't blame United for coming on this date, cos heck, for them to even consider coming back here, its a privilege. So for this 2 dates to actually coincide, someone must really be hating me.. probably I should seek salvation in a religion now? Nah, fuck that...


Will only be seeing this on tv I guess

Aih, was really looking forward to see Micheal Owen finally dawning the right red colour strip :D. But I suppose I can only watch it when they play on tv eh. I actually wanted to ask those who are going for the match (and shit, I count, damn lot of ppl I know are going) to text me or call me whenever there is a goal, just to annoy my parents... I actually had to change my message tone from Bat Country to a doorbell cos my dad said it was annoying. Oh well, I'm fucking miserable, and misery loves company no? I just hope that either the local tv stations or Astro Supersport shows the match live. Fucked I maybe, but surely not THAT fucked rite?

Only good thing to come out from this? Well, I will be going for the training on Friday and there is suppose to be some sort of dinner that night also, but I'm gonna blow them off... If all goes as planned, I'll only be going back to Malacca on Saturday morning. As for my tickets, I gave it to my gf to go with her dad. So I suppose its not that bad.. Wait.. who am I kidding? It IS that bad!!

Come Saturday, I will be at that wedding no doubt, but make no mistake, it will not be a joyous occasion for me. Cos heck, my joyous occasion will be at the national stadium where my beloved team will be whooping the asses of the national team... If I were to submit this to fmylife.com, it will be something like this:

'Today, my favorite football team is playing and I have tickets, also today, my cousin is getting married so I am forced to ditch the match and go for the wedding, I am 23. FML'

Oh, I should also mention, I have nothing against my cousin and him getting married n shit. But just bad timing...

A White Water Adventure...

For the past 23 years of my life, I can consider myself living in cotton wool. As in I don't do much activities that involve danger and excitement. Maybe its because of the company of friends I grew up with ?? Hmmm.. hahaha, joking, joking :D. Well, think about it, most of the time when we gather to do something, we usually 1) LAN party 2)mamak stall 3) watch football. With the exception of Penang trip part I and II, and maybe the odd drinking session... Even trip to Langkawi oso has been put on indefinite hold. So when the chance to go white water rafting with my gf, her friend and her siblings came along this weekend, I decided to go with a hell yeah! Heck even with dee, klip yong, soon and phang all back on the same weekend, I still decided to go ahead with the more challenging sport!

So the trip started way early at 6 am when we departed from home and head up north to the sleepy town of Gopeng, Perak. I have no idea where it is on the map but it is apparently near Kampar. Not much help there either huh? Right, the journey to that place only took like 2.5-3 hours from KL, but when I only had 1-2 hours sleep the night before, it didn't seem long enough.


Gotta be a Rockstar 24/7 eh? Minus the mulut terngah-ngah la...

We arrived at the pick up point which is at Gua Tempurung at around 9 am where a dude in a van eventually came and pick us up. The weather was perfect actually, no rain but no hot sunlight either. Knowing that we will be wet most of the time, we decided not to bring any electronic stuff which included the camera. The guide, Arnold (yes he did try to make the Schwarzenegger reference) then drove us off 20 minutes through Gopeng town and then into some small, beat up road to the middle of no where. Quite literally we went into an oil palm plantation.

And according to Arnie, we will be rafting down the Kampar river which is considered a class 3 rapid river. He added that there were 6 different classes so this one was just in the middle, not too calm and not too dangerous. So we had to ask, whats a class 6 rapid like? His response was simple, "Suicide kind". And apparently in our country only got until class 4 which is in Sabah. Which also was where most if not all of the rafting coaches were from.

So when we reached the rafting site, we were greeted by Den our rafting instructor and who also would be the guy on the raft with us (there was another group as well). So after the usual safety briefing and instructions, we walked down the road to the river. And shit, river water at 9am is just freaking cold! Although Marcelo, the lone foreigner who joined our raft, said "the water in Italy is much colder".


There was quite a few of this...

Right, before we actually went in the raft, we had to do this safety thing where we body raft (a feat where we were suppose to just lie back in the water heads and legs up with our but down, kinda like a V shape) along the river and had to catch the rope that the instructor threw at us a few meters down the river. Simple as this may sound, considering we were drifted into some small turbulent water, whole body submerged 1 second and emerging the next, catching that damn rope was not easy! This was supposedly to prepare us in case we actually did fall over board during the actual rafting. The 4 people who went before me manage to grab the rope on the first try, so the pressure was on me, and me being me, something had to go wrong... As I drifted into the water, I went under and my heel clipped a rock and because of that, my sandal came off and drifted away down the river... I was like "oh shit, there goes 20 bucks..at least I have the other 20 on".

So even before the real adventure begin, I already lost a sandal... Sign of bad things to come? Well, no, the entire 10km of our rafting experience was damn damn syok!! Yes, it may not be like the rapids that you see on TV but it was sure damn fun, even the ones that look small oso had the potential to tip the raft over! And my gf and her sister went for a drink once each. But surprisingly after they came back onto the raft, they both actually liked going over board! As for me, I did fell off my seat a couple of times, but some how, I just fell into the raft, not outside -.-'. Dunno to feel lucky or unlucky?


But luckily none of this...

Right, not gonna burden ya with much details, but suffice to say, after a 1 hour 45 min of adrenaline rush and excitement, it was a super experience. And to my surprise, when we got off the raft, the guide who was waiting for us at the river bank laughed at me and said " Eh, why ur sandal float faster than u eh?". They FOUND my sandal!! With all the white water and fast moving currents, I thought it was a goner for sure! But some how, the other river guides manage to fish it out and they even knew that it wasn't just a piece of trash that was thrown away!

Aftter drying up, partially anyways, we were brought to lunch which was provided some where along the river bank. My my, mutton curry and chillied toufu never tasted so good! For our new friend Marcelo, this was the end of his trip and he would be off to KLIA in a few hours after lunch! Appreantly, he did bring his camera along and there was a water proof bag for us just incase we had any valuables. So thanks to him there were a few photos of me in my rafting gear. I just hope he remembers to send it to us.

As for us, next up was some cave-ing inside Gua Tempurung. Now I'm not much of a fan of this sorta things, especially with caves comes bats which entails guano. I'm sure most of you have seen Ace Ventura to know what I'm talking about. Plus I've just been to some caves in Hanoi last year. But as with almost every preception of something I have, the opposite will just turn up. Heck it was quite the challenging walk even with ready man made steps for us. All those climbing up and down. Really good leg workout. Sadly we didn't have a flash light with us so most of the cave formations remained in the dark for us. And we couldn't wait for the guide as well cos he was taking a bunch of old ppl with him.

So at the end of the day, a very tiring day in fact, we headed home, with a little pit stop at The Curve for dinner at Paddingtons House of Pancakes. I swear, they have the fluffiest pancakes in town! I wouldn't mind going again, for rafting of course, and at 150+ bucks it is well worth it! Anyone wanna go?


I survived!! WooHoo!!

My Food Bug

I am home for the weekend. Only reasons I decided to go home because 1) my dad was in KL so I could get a free ride back, and 2) most importantly, there is finally broadband at home! Plus I needed a haircut. So today with nothing to eat for lunch I decided to raid the fridge to see what I could whip up.


Gotta love cooking at home

Since I've been in a mood to cook lately I decided to try and come up with lunch for myself. And coming back to a well stocked fridge is a real heaven! Decided to make a super omelet for lunch. So I looked for eggs *check*, onions *check*,tomatoes *check*, cheese *check*, spices and condiments *check* and most importantly bacon *check*. So off I went creating a mess or a masterpiece.

Started off by frying the bacon together with the onions. Once that was cooked, I added some olive oil and poured 2 eggs in that I seasoned with pepper. When the eggs was almost done I threw in 1 tomato inside. Finally I added 1 slice of cheese (should've used 2) along with some black pepper, oregano, salt and paprika flakes! Only thing is my pan was kinda small for 2 eggs so I had a problem making the perfect omelet shape. Oh well... again presentation went out the window.

In the end it did turn out pretty good I have to say, got the thumbs up from my mom so I guess that is THE sign of approval eh? Well other than that, the bloody hot and humid weather didn't help at all. Had to take 3 showers today!

But the heat of the day couldn't keep me away from eating the best fruit the da world. Just the other day in KL one of the neighbours were eating durians and all I could do was to smell and mope.. Its been awhile since I got to taste that familiar creamy, sweet, slightly bitter and ever so tasty fruit! Finally I got my durian fix for this year! Was it enough? I don't know, hope to get some more tomorrow before I get on the bus back to KL!
