A Shopping I Will Go...

In a spontaneous decision to go shopping today, me and Ant decided to go KLCC to walk around as he wanted to buy some shirts and I was hoping to buy a pair of shoes. Went to the Adidas Originals store and the shoe just cought my eyes. It was like love at first sight sial.. something you know from the first time u see it, you just gotta get it!

Been wanting to buy a pair of shoes for so long already, went Malacca find takda, went Penang find takda, even went MidValley pun takda.. In the end, it was the shopping mall nearest to me that I found this :

Sweet ain't it? Original price was 299 but pleasantly surprising was I came on the last day of their sales. So I manage to get a 20% discount for that!! hahaha... awesome!! Its super comfy and super nice... even comes with another set of black laces so if I feel kinda funky, I can go all Micheal Jackson!

Well, at that point I haven't had anything to eat yet so was kinda hungry la.. Suggested Burger King but instead Ant said ' why not Chilli's? ' . And today was my first time eating there! The burger I had was nice la I suppose, but for the price I was paying, wouldn't expect any less.

And what a nicer way to wash it all down than with a nice cocktail. Had something called a Strawberry Daiquiri. Was kinda nice but kinda weak on the alcohol side though >.<

Anyways, feeling kinda tired now so gonna leave it short for here..

Air Asia n Man Utd??

Been wanting to post this since I came across the article in The Star few days ago. Couldn't believe what I saw, my eyes lit up instantly at the crack of noon when I read the headline that said something like : Man Utd wants AirAsia as shirt sponsors! Now normally I would get this off the net and able to verify this quickly by checking it with other websites, but cos I was stuck in Malacca at that time..

Anyways, can u imagine that?? Having AirAsia printed on the front of THE greatest football team in the world's jersey? Was already kinda wetting my pants thinking bout it! hahaha... maybe if it does go through, I might finally get an ORIGINAL jersey eh?

But of course there are many things to ponder about before Mr. Fernandes decides to take up this offer. Mainly like how much money it'll cost them cos after all, current sponsors AIG is paying United bout 14.1 million pounds (or issit USD?) per year. Secondly, how much will AirAsia get back through the selling of jerseys, merchandise, etc to the public? But I'm sure Mr. Fernandes is a very wise person and he will make the right choice. Wonder if our 'beloved' government will try to cock block this move?

Of course, I would personally be delighted if the deal does go through, who knows, maybe AA will have a promo like fly AirAsia n get a ManU jersey at half price? And besides, its Man Utd that approach AA, not the other way round! That must surely tell you how highly MU regards AA huh? For once I feel kinda proud when I say Malaysia Boleh!

Imagine watching this week in week out on our telly.. (pic was taken from www.tonyfernandesblog.com)

Oh, on the topic of AirAsia, Malaysian F1 GP will be coming soon... anyone interested to go? Pay la of course, no free tickets this time..

Ok la, time to go watch Liverpool against Real Madrid pula.. lol..

Nothing Like A Nice Cuppa....

Well, it's almost the end of my holidays back in Malacca, I'll be heading back to KL tomorrow to sort out some house stuff. Need to find a new place to stay before the start of next month!! Currently I'm blogging from Starbucks @ Mahkota Parade whilst my mom is shopping... Yes, I'm THAT damn bored and THAT net deprived that I followed my mom to shopping!!

Anyways, I've just returned from the Penang trip with the guys bout a week ago. I'll surely be blogging bout that once I upload the pics to my laptop and get the rest from Drew, in a nutshell, it was the BOMB!! Those who came along had a blast, n those who didn't surely wished they had *cough*phang*cough*soon*.. Spent not more than 200++ bucks on food, had IMHO the best n most expensive char kuay teow at 9 bucks!, had fun time cuci mata with penang girls (seriously the Malacca pool of girls have dried up.. >.<) , witnessed how important it is to speak at least 1 dialect of Chinese! (more on this next time.. Drew can explain why i suppose :D), teached 2 ppl plus 1 Yong how to play mah jong from scratch! Hahaha... And in the end, surely gained weight but not sure how much!

And not to say the eating stopped in Penang, no.... it carried back to Malacca! shit!! Come back ni go eat cendol (which IMHO pwns Penang's cendol eyes closed!), curry laksa (also, pwn!) , satay celup n chicken rice balls!! Heck, imagine 3 ppl eat 45 rice balls n half a chicken with a total of ONLY RM11.20 sen!! How I'm gonna miss those prices when I get back to KL >.<

Champions League resumes this week!! Hurray!! More sleepless nights!! Obviously the plum tie of the round would be Man Utd vs Internazionale of Milan... n looking by the form guide, its gonna be a belter of a match! Though we did finally concede a goal in the league (I think Tomaz is shit though) we still went on to win the match with a fine Ronaldo free kick which I think is long overdue! And with Liverpool only manage to draw against the blue half of Manchester, a 7 point lead now looks pretty healthy.. Speaking of Liverpool, I feel kinda nervous for my friends who support them cos while they could only muster a draw, Real Madrid whopped the team that drew with Barcelona last week 6-1!! N Barca pula seems to be coming undone at the moment, losing to the bottom club at home.. wtf... Hopefully they'll beat Lyon tomorrow!

Oh, Slumdog Millionaire won BIG at the Oscars this morning.. 8 out of 10 nominations!!! Wicked rite?? Not really a big fan bout this awards ceremonies cos almost 80% of the movies that are nominated never get to touch our shores... n even if they do, half of it will be censored like fuck!! :P ... Read that the people in India aren't too happy bout the movie cos of the title 'Slumdog' which they say is demeaning ... But I agree with Datuk Shah Rukh Kahn when he said something like ' If they are offended by the title Slumdog, why can't they be happy with the word Millionaire at the end??' .. Stupid people.. for fun ni looking for trouble..

Which brings me to my next topic abit a short one : Malaysian politics... Won't get too deep into this.. its just gets sadder n sadder (is there such a word?) to flip open the papers in the morning n from page 1 to 20 will be nothing but politics... Perak la, by-elections la, LCCT@Labu cancel la, MACC pointing fingers la, Eli Wong nude pics la, seriously.. if the woman wants to sleep naked in her OWN bed let her be la.. MB ka PM ka.. fuck... her rights wat... Can't help to think this is all a BIG conspiracy by the ruling party to gain back ground from the last elections... Will all of this end when Pak Lah steps down?? I wouldn't hold my breath.. but you never know, if you go against the government then, you might end up in pieces with traces of explosives all over ;P

Oh, might be organizing a trip to Langkawi next month... not sure yet.. depends on Yong n Phang.. anyone else interested to join?? n after listening to 'Love Story' more than 20 times in the past week alone (5 times on the way back from Penang!!) that Taylor Swift song is stuck in my head ><.. but she is kinda hot!! :)

Hmmmm... still got 1 hour + before dad comes n pick us up.. and it does suck that Malacca doesn't have a music shop like Beatspot, Bently, or Yamaha ... really need a new set of cables... ah... will continue to sip away my Iced Caramel Macciato and spam Facebook la :D

Glutton, One of My Favourite Sins..

Couple of months back, my family and I took a trip up to Hanoi for holiday together with my relatives. Was still in the middle of the semester then, but I didn't regret 1 moment I was away. I'm gonna cut the boring part of visiting temples, historical monuments, caves, etc and get to the best part : FOOD! Nothing distinguishes a country more then the food that comes out of it. And my trip to Hanoi has been pretty much the consuming of 2 things : Pho (which means noodles, rather a thinner version of our kuay teow) and coffee!

Right, the first order of the day when we touched down in Hanoi was breakfast. And the place my uncle who is working in Hanoi took us served Pho Ga (which means chicken noodles I think) and coffee! At first I thought, ain't Vietnam famous for their beef noodles instead of chicken? Well, I was about to find out they both go hand in hand.

See if you'd follow a normal tour group led by one of those tour guides from the company, they'd probably usher you to one of those posh places or even worse, the hotel.. and this little shop could've been overlooked completely. If you visit those coffee shops in Jonker area often, you'd pretty much feel at home. But the food is in a class of its own.

At first glance, I wasn't too excited bout what was on the table, as you can see, simple plain broth, noodles, chicken n spring onions. Add abit of lime and freshly cut chilli by the side, it seemed simple enough no? But I tell you, once I took a spoon full of it, I swear I won't eat another 'Vietnamese beef/chicken noodle' in Malaysia anymore!

And we got these mini char kuays which are so crispy n fresh. At first I thought it was suppose to dip in the coffee like typical Malaysian style. But my aunt and uncle said to dip in the soup and eat with the noodles. Sure enough, it felt perfect. And owh, Vietnamese chili is not like the normal chili we get at home. The size like normal chili but the taste, sumthing like chili padi la. Damn syok!

And to wash it all down, we had real Vietnamese coffee. I had the iced coffee which looked simple enough. But as I was to find out with all the coffees served in Vietnam, the locals here like theirs thick kao kao kao. Imagine my aunt who's about erm.. 70? (eh, Lynn, how old is dee ee ah? :x) , kaki kopi as in every family gathering sure will make those Aik Cheong or Starbucks coffee, says that its too thick for her and ask me to finish it. Luckily I'm not one of those who can't sleep after a cuppa. Or else I probably won't be able to sleep for the whole time I was in Vietnam!!

If that was the taste of things to come during the trip, I could hardly wait!! One note worth mentioning, you know if you see those travel shows on Discovery T&L esp. the Anthony Bourdain ones where he says if possible, do not eat in the hotel? Well, I bet he would retract differently once he tasted the food we had at ours.

The hotel we stayed wasn't that big or grand, it was a little boutique hotel tucked away in a small ally way which only bikes and pedestrians could access. This is 1 case of 'don't judge a book by its cover'. Service was great, the staff smiled and greeted you everytime you walked it. Heck even got complementry drinks on arrival. The breakfast menu was also superb! Ain't no run of the mill buffet, but an ala carte menu where we order what we want to eat n they cook it on the spot for us. Their beef n chicken noodles also 'mou tak teng' as the Canto ppl would say. And I had an omlette stuffed with cheese, mushrooms, bacon n ham + beef noodles almost every morning!

Anyways, only had the breakfast thing the following days. As for lunch, we went to this restaurant which provided local n a bit of western buffet. Now usually I wouldn't tempt snails or as the French would call it : escargot. But hey, when else would I have the chance. So ate I did, and yummy they taste! There were also staff bringing those huge kebab sticks with meat wrapped round it tableside and slicing of juicy pieces of beef, pork or lamb for us. Too bad no pics, was busy stuffing my pie hole with food!

And of cos, gotta try every Pho Bo (beef noodle) in sight rite? The one here was also yummy! And there were the usual Vietnamese spring rolls . To be honest, I had so many different types of spring rolls here, all claiming to be THE Vietnamese spring roll, I'm really left clueless. Will the real Vietnamese Spring Roll please stand up?? At the end of it, we left with our bellys stuffed and our faces smiling :)

Later in the day, we went to this coffee house where the speciality according to my uncle, is ice cream coffee. Wondered what was so special, just put a scoop of ice cream into the coffee la rite? Well, kinda.. the secret was they used coconut ice cream! I think its fresh cos can see the ice cream still got the coconut shavings in them. And as usual la, the coffee standard is as kao as ever :)

For dinner, again we went of the beaten track and walked ourselves from the hotel to this little French type eatery. I was told that this placed served one of the best slices of ham, salami, etc and pate (pronounced 'pah-teh' .shit i too lazy to find the letters with the slashes on top :P). Upon hearing that, could clearly see the eyes of my dad n sis light up!

This was what we were here for, a platter of nothing but meat in its finest form apart from those carrots la. And the yellow thing beside ain't no melon or butter, it was fat! And what better way to enjoy this scrumptious feast then with freshly baked french bread! No it aint the baguettes, its the shorter, fatter, softer n fluffier version!

Nah, macam ni la makan! Use the fat as butter, put a few pieces of meat, some tomatoes n cucumbers for taste and walla, Meat sandwich! And between the 10 of us, I think we ordered like 6 plates of this! And I think between me, my dad n my sis, we had like 4 of em!! There was one time they went out of bread so one of the waiters had to go out n buy some from those aunties sellin em by the road side!

We even had room for pigeon, roasted chicken and salad. Heck even their salad got pieces of ham inside!! Surely by far the best dinner I had in Hanoi! I think my dad said if this was his last meal, he'd be pretty happy!

The next night again we went to this small shop a couple of blocks away from the previous nights' dinner. Here they serve one thing and one thing only but unfortunately, I couldn't remember what its called in Vietnamese hahhaha.. Basically it was fish slices marinated in kunyit and other spices fried in a small wok with kangkung over a charcoal burner ! And we're suppose to cook it table side ourselves.

We ate this together with home made glass noodles and there was this special sauce. If you know budu, then you pretty much can imagine the taste. Its so pungent it'll make you wanna throw up at first. I think its fish paste n fish sauce.. somethings fishy here.. Like my aunt said, its an acquired taste. Unfortunately I didn't manage to acquire the taste :(. Non the less, the dish itself was delicious!!

Following day, we went to Halong Bay, don't wanna bore you with sights of the sea n rock formations. The food on board the boat we sat though was pretty much average la, but 1 thing that cought my eye was the first dish, 1 plate of prawns ! And this was for a table of 5! Haha and Vietnam has 2 brands of local beer, couldn't really choose which I like more, I just knew I liked drinking em!! But they're light la.. Something like China beer.

That night for dinner, we had more seafood, some local Vietnamese steam boat thing. Nothing much special here la.. Normal spicy tom yam like soup with prawns, clams, mussels, crabs n fish.

Heck I manage to eat 1 whole crab myself! ahha.. Huge buggers summore weh.. And that was pretty much my trip to Hanoi in a big eating nutshell la. To simply put it Hanoi has thought me that food doesn't have to be presented beautifully or located at a fancy artsy big big places for eat to be heart warming and delicious.

And owh, 1 final thing before 1 forgot, this might look like an ordinary coffee latte , but in fact, its coffee with whipped cream, kahlua and 1 shot of tequila!! no shit!! And I have to say, thats not a bad way to cap of the night, Over looking a small lake.. wathcing peoke pass by. And one more intersting thing, there are NO FAT people in Hanoi!!! With the abundance of food, I am truely amazed!!

I think some of you might have seen this already via Facebook, but for those who haven't enjoy the sight of our 'beautiful' Malaysian culture. Mind you, What you see above happened like all 5-6 times that night itself!

I'll be heading to Penang on Tuesday, so expect more of the same in my next post ! :D

What a New Year Indeed

This year's Chinese New Year has been particularly special for me for the main reason that my birthday fell on the first day of CNY. So with the normal wishes of Gong Xi Fatt Choi, I get n extra Happy Birthday from friends n peeps around me. Meaning to say that I've never gotten so many birthday wishes before! And oh, not to mention the power of Facebook... Boy is it powerfull in more ways then 1.

Besides that, during this CNY, I manage to meet up with more friends and relatives at1 time compared to the previous years. Some even relatives I never knew I had!! Was very happy to be able to meet up with my cousins this year as last year, we didn't get to spend much time during CNY. Plus now that we all have grown up (erm.. size ni, thinkin still the same la I think :P), its even harder for us to meet.

Cousins.. Shit I only manage to get a head shot ...

And you know that you've aged when you see your younger cousins at the age of 7-13 playing PSP (seems that all the young ones have 1!!), Gameboy Advance, Nintendo, Dota, Counter Strike etc where as us at the same age were still playing hide n seek, kejar-kejar, Power Rangers..

Our customary gambling session.. alcohol was a welcomed addition this year!

Also, this year, I did manage to NOT stay alcohol free and even manage to squeeze in a tradtional gambling session or 2 :D. The food as usual was a plenty with my mom baking lots n lots of cookies n cakes. How la wanna lose weight when you've got all this good food lying around?
So basically this CNY I've been pretty busy.. If not layan relatives, its friends... And I was fine with that, leavin in the morning n only returing at late nite.. But apparently that led to my negligence towards my girlfriend at that time and she said (in my own words) that was the last straw and she couldn't take it anymore.

Happy Times!! 1 for the album

So without getting into too much details, it seems that I've been the creator of our downfall and she had to pull the plug for it was taking too much out of her hence as of the start of this month, I have become single again. Availability is subjective. haha.. I can't say I saw this coming, but maybe I should've. I feel kinda taken aback cos I thought we were on the mend but seems that I've been taking things for granted.

So maybe I deserve this in a way, and maybe I don't deserve her anymore, therefore, if this is her choice, I'd just have to swallow it. No, I politely decline any sympathy and yes, I'm doing fine. How so? Well, I figure what we had while we had was great, and I'll always cherish the memories we had, all we've gone through was a lesson in life thats worth keeping n learning from. For that I say thank you. No regrets there... Trying to be all philosophical ain't I. Plus, its not as if being sad n moody n emo will change anything right?

In the end, I just hope that we do not become strangers, I hate despising ppl and being despised and I sincerely pray that after this, life would be on the up n up for her. Finding a better guy than me n all. I'm Sorry..

Ah, its getting late.. transfer window oso closed liao.. I don't like this cliche but I'll use it anyway : 'New year, new beginning' .. haha.. lame ..
