Strategic location in d middle of 1U, The Curve and BU Centerpoint...

Last Saturday, Don, Yong and me went on another food quest to stuff ourselves with some of the best food our country has to offer. This time round, I manage to get Phang to come up to KL after probably the 100th time... Worth it mou? This time round, I suggested we go to this haunt called Ribs@Oasis which is conveniently located in between 1U, The Curve and Centerpoint. Read bout this place in several blogs and judging by their pictures and reviews, I knew we were in for a treat. What I didn't expect though, was how BIG a treat it would turn out to be!

A small cosy environment...

We arrived at the place around 8+ due to the lateness of SOME people who wanted to go shopping :P. The restaurant itself was quite small and cosy though I think they have extra seating upstairs on the rooftop (serious.. I kid you not!). We basically ordered all the recommended dishes from the menu with me getting the pork knuckle, pyh getting the pork loin, yong having the reverse or inverse burger as well as ordering carbonara pasta in his quest to try d best carbonara pasta out there while don had the oxtail spaghetti. To balance out all the meat dishes, we called for the Ceaser's salad as well.

Hail Caesar! with bacon...

After about half an hour, the first of our dishes arrived which were the pastas and salad. Honestly I found the pastas all right laahhh, not mind blowing good but still good. But the salad was a let down for me, didn't have enough cheese nor anchovies.

Oxtail pasta...

Then Yong's Inverse Burger came out which looked pretty darn good! It's called the Inverse (or reverse) Burger simply for the fact that instead of having 2 slices of bread holding 1 piece of meat, it is 2 pieces of meat holding 1 piece of bread! And best of all it is a pork burger! I had one bite and it was awesome!! Juicy, tasty, succulent and [insert yummy adjective here]. Really loh, it could've matched my Legendary Burger© :P. It was so good that Yong only allowed us 1 piece each... I remembered when Don tried to go for seconds, he was stopped in his tracks!

Slurping goodness...

After awhile, Phang's braised pork loin came. It was a pretty big portion and it basically tasted like the siew yok bak in tau yu sauce. Only much better and much tastier! Though pyh said he had better -.-'.

Genius of a burger...

As usual, mine came last. But like the saying goes, 'save the best for last'. So when my pork knuckle came out, all of us were literally like O.O wtf!... Saying it was HUGE is an understatement... It was more like hu-farkin-mongus!!! I think it was as big as my face loh.. -.-'

Pork never tasted this good...

At first I didn't know where to start, the skin was extra crispy so when I cut into it, I could hear the crackling of skin. Then the juices or fats came oozing out... The combination of crispy skin, creamy fat and tender meat was literally mind blasting... The term mouth orgasm is probably of good use here. The sides of mash potatoes and pickled cabbage seemed unnecessary. And there was so much of meat to go around, I had to share with all of them. Seriously, this is not a dish you want to eat alone... unless of course you've been starving for the past 3 days lah, then probably you might be able to finish!

Until now...

Eating that behemoth piece of meat was really work for me, had to cut here, cut there... I think I took about an hour to finish the whole thing! There were times when I wanted to throw in the towel but then I remembered bout d starvin' kids in Africa so as to honour them, I persevered on! By the time I was done, I gave myself a pat on the back looking at the now meatless piece of bone. I was telling them that the piece of bone would've been excellent to use for stock or cooking pork porridge.

Working for my dinner...

For dessert, the manager recommended their tiramisu so pyh ordered 1 slice for us to share. I was actually only 3/4 way through my pork when the cake came. It looked creamy, rich and absolutely mouth watering. The greedy me couldn't resist the temptation and took a break from the main course to have a bite. It was really good! The taste of coffee and rum was just right... although, not enough cheese for my liking... My mom's version pwns this still! :D

After nearly an hour of battle, I won...

So by the time we, more like I was done, the restaurant was almost closing already, all the guest had gone, and we got the bill. We were literally stuffed to the brim with pork... Ah pork... how can one give up this luxury for a religion?... Lets save that for another day...

Sinful end to a glutton dinner...

And how did I wash down all the sinful goodness? With a bottle (or 2) of Corona of course! Honestly, I don't know what the fuss is all bout this particular beer. Taste almost like Carlsberg anyways, I'd prefer a Heineken anytime!

Might look girly, but it tasted nice...

Right back to the point... The prices were quite reasonable considering the portions, about 19-30 bucks... Though the pork shoulder costs a whopping RM52++. Then again, it is meant to be shared.. So yeah, it was another successful eating adventure for us. Another reason why I'm getting fat. :( ...
